Our Story

Welcome to Katmandu

More Than an RV Park. A Destination.

Katmandu RV Park has been part of the Sturgis camping scene since 1985, sitting in a quiet valley off Exit 34 on I-90. In October 2023, Brent and Lynette Larson took over the park, and they live nearby in the Black Hills themselves. Since then, they've worked to open the campground up beyond its original reputation as strictly a Sturgis Rally stop, building it into a seasonal destination for families, retirees, and travelers passing through the area all summer long.

Today, Katmandu offers 331 sites across full hookup RV spots, tent camping, cabins, and a 5-bedroom vacation home, so groups of almost any size can find a place to stay. The grounds include a shower house with private stalls, on-site laundry, a full bar, hiking trails, a playground, and direct access to local UTV trails, all within a mile of the property.

The Larsons and their team continue to invest in improvements season after season, with help from friends and family who've made Katmandu part of their own routine. Whether you're here for one night during the rally or settling in for the summer, the goal is the same: a clean, welcoming park where the basics are taken care of. We look forward to hosting your stay here in beautiful South Dakota!

We stopped at Katmandu Campground for one night on a national park campground. The host owner was extremely helpful and extra accommodating with it being a hear wave going on.

The best campground in the Black Hills. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of, always a great experience staying with them. 10/10 would recommend.

I traveled in my motorhome. Pizza and beer were great. Hospitality even better

It was exactly what I expected and more. The staff were amazing, the cabin was no frills, everything worked. The bar was a surprise – great atmosphere, outdoor seating and it didn't feel cramped inside.

Katmandu was our home for 6 nights on our 3 month bucket list National Park trip camping. Owners were friendly and welcoming the whole time. The bar on-site was clean and well appointed and they even had a band come in for singing and dancing! When we take another trip out west we will sure try to stay here again!!

We have been at Katmandu for SEVERAL years for a reason! We ride to others campgrounds where friends are to visit. Many come visit us. Over the years… many eventually come to katmandu. Its the clean, in all aspects… its the people, and most importantly the owners and staff. I always drop a deposit and reservation for the NEXT year, BEFORE WE LEAVE. Ride all day or whatever… come back and relax. They have a PRIVATE bus shuttle to town. No 10 stop at others. Love the place. …38E

Best Campground in the Black Hills. Their bar has by far the best prices on drinks, especially during the Sturgis motorcycle rally.

Great place to stay, especially during the Sturgis Rally. Good location near town, very friendly staff, nice bathrooms, and a free shuttle to town during the rally. I have stayed here multiple times and am planning to continue to do so.
